Burns' Night

Scottish Super Supper

The unanimous opinion of members and friends attending our 3 rd annual Burns’ Supper was that
2020 had been our best-ever!!

“An excellent evening, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves”

“C’etait super”

“We had a great time”

“A splendid evening – excellent food, enjoyable company and entertainment – what more can you
ask for?”

“Congratulations to you all – a great success”

“Another Open Door success”

Just some of the comments that we’ve received, to go with the very many congratulations that were
made at the time to the team of volunteers who planned, organised, catered for and animated the
evening - as well as to the musicians who gave a real Scottish feel to the evening!

The occasion was further enhanced by two new friends of the association, Jenny and Derek Slater,
who teach traditional Scottish dancing and guided guests through one or two old favourites played
by Francis Fowke and Bernard Rispal.

Problems with delivery of the Haggis caused a few headaches for the organisers – a second delivery
having to be arranged with the suppliers and Sue and Gordon Williams saving the vegetarian guests
by cooking up seven portions of delicious ‘veggie haggis’ on the morning of the Supper!! Once again
Mags Murdoch prepared the delicious homemade Cock-a-Leekie soup (with a veggie version) and
Clootie Dumpling (plus veggie).
